The app was developed in response to the challenges many individuals face when searching for responsible and reputable breeders to acquire dogs from, particularly within younger demographics. Often, people resort to word-of-mouth recommendations or aimless internet quests, leading them to purchase dogs from pet stores or puppy mills. Our objective is to enhance transparency and assurance in the deeply personal process of acquiring a dog while also lending support to local breeders without any associated costs. Crafted by dog lovers for dog lovers.

• Finding a Breeder: Prospective buyers can explore a map displaying local breeders, equipped with filters based on criteria such as breed, gender, location, size, and more. By selecting breeders on the map, users can access detailed breeder profiles.
• Breeder Profile: Each breeder profile provides essential information like a bio, location details, breeder ratings, and links to previous reviews. The profile also showcases available puppies and separate sections for sires and dams. Users have the option to message breeders directly or make dog purchases within the app. For those not yet ready to buy, the 'follow' feature allows them to receive updates on future litters.
• Messaging: The messaging feature presents a straightforward and well-structured communication platform for breeders to engage with potential buyers. Users can inquire about current or upcoming availability or pose specific questions to strengthen confidence and trust.
• Image Sharing: Breeders can upload photos showcasing their current, past, and upcoming dogs as a means of bolstering their profiles. Users can follow specific breeders, fellow users, and hashtags to stay updated on content. There's also an option for users to post images of their own dogs and tag the respective breeder, expanding visibility further.
• Lost Dog Support: In case of a lost dog, users have the ability to mark it within the app triggering notifications sent out to all users within a 3-mile radius. These notifications include the dog's description along with owner contact information.
• No Puppy Mill Pledge: The Puppies App adheres to a strict no puppy mill policy, eschewing breeders engaged in large-scale breeding operations and profit-driven schemes.
